FBC Langdon

I have created a blog/website for our church using wordpress as a platform.  It will be a place to handle church news and events and also to provide links to sermons and things.  I have the first sermon that I have recorded at FBC on 11/23 as a starter linked there.  Go check it out at http://fbclangdon.wordpress.com

  1. I would love a site like this with sermons for Dayspring. Is it hard to set up and do?

  2. Willoh,
    Actually, it was shockingly easy for me to do. I hate to gauge it by me since I am kind of a geek, but all I did was set up a wordpress blog like this one and then find a place to host the sermon mp3 files. I am still working out the kinks, but it hasn’t been much trouble, and it hasn’t cost me anything either. The wordpress site is free of course and the file hosting site I found was free as well. It does have a bandwidth limit, but I haven’t come anywhere near going over it yet. I recorded the initial sermons on my laptop by outputting the tape outs on the sound board at church into the mic input. If you want more details on how I did it or have specific questions you can email me.

  3. Hey my brother;
    I caught your responce on the imonk blog about the SBC. I hear your heart. I’m one of the “older guys.” I didn’t think this display of conservative power was going to turn out all good either. Don’t get me wrong, I have always been scripture authority only. During that fight, the conservatives had the words right but the music was all wrong. I retired from FBC Ponce de Leon, in Ponce de Leon Florida and have focused on what we call “Brick Building” (Jesus modeled Discipling) ever since. I think you may find this right up your alley for small church fulfilling the great commission. If I can ever be of service or encouragement, contact me at:

  4. Ed,
    Thank you for your comments. We are actually trying to use one-to-one discipling in our church as well. A pastor of the church we attended when God called us on this journey was a big advocate of intentional personal discipleship and I was a part of that at that church. He now does conferences and such and has been to our church to teach the practical aspects of discipling one-to-one. I like your term “brick building.” Churches big and small don’t need a big budget or membership to fulfill God’s plan, they simply need to be faithful in the “little things.”
