18 Mount Sinai was covered with smoke, because the LORD descended on it in fire. The smoke billowed up from it like smoke from a furnace, the whole mountain trembled violently, 19 and the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder. Then Moses spoke and the voice of God answered him.
12 Then the Spirit lifted me up, and I heard behind me a loud rumbling sound—May the glory of the LORD be praised in his dwelling place!
1 When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. 2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.
Today is the beginning of Pentecost on the Hebrew calendar. I have been studying these feasts lately and just love what God has done for us. The Scripture above from Exodus and Ezekiel are just a sample of the readings that the Jewish people have done on Pentecost for 3500 years now. Imagine the disciples meeting in the upper room and reading the account in Exodus 19 where God descends with fire just at the time that God descended on them in tongues of fire in the upper room. They went out and preached to the crowd that had gathered in Jerusalem to celebrate Pentecost. They were a living fulfillment of God’s promise given to the Jewish people and to all of us in that festival celebration. Come and see what God has done, how awesome His works in man’s behalf! Have a blessed Pentecost. Celebrate what God has done for you today.
