We started a new book of study this week and will be going through the book of 1 Corinthians for the next several weeks.  I am excited about this and looking forward to what God has in store for us.

Godly Wisdom for a Godly Way

Sermon Notes for 2/15/09 (1 Corinthians 1-2)

  1. Greetings and commendations

    1. This letter is not just for Corinth but for all believers – v. 2

    2. God gives us everything we need – v. 3-9

    3. God doesn’t want a “divided house”

      1. Our ability to come together is a witness to the world

  2. Some people just don’t understand – v. 18-25

    1. God’s plan won’t make sense to everyone

    2. God’s plan will make sense to those God has called

    3. If you understand and someone else doesn’t, it doesn’t give you room to brag or boast.

  3. God’s plan is all about Jesus!

    1. We can’t convince people with great arguments

    2. The Holy Spirit is the only one who can “turn the light on.”

  4. The mind of Christ

    1. We understand Christ through the Holy Spirit

    2. God’s plan is in plain sight, but some still miss it.

    3. God reveals His plan to us through His Spirit

    4. We need to teach only what God has shown us

    5. If someone doesn’t understand, pray that the Holy Spirit would open their eyes and instruct them in truth (Philippians 3:15)
